American Apparel = boogie nights?

American Apparel makes excellent utilitarian wardrobe basics such as leggings, henleys and T-shirts. I think they operate out of downtown Los Angeles, employ local workers and also have an organic line. I've bought some shirts and leggings from them in the past and wore them nearly every week because they were just so comfortable. As I currently peruse their website, however, I find myself peeved. Many of their articles of clothing are just ridiculous. Where do they think everyone goes every day, studio 54? Take for example this pair of shorts, which no one over 12 could wear in public, let alone work out in:

While some of their retro styles (the ones that normal people can wear) are cool, they should use their natural, cozy fabrics and design some real clothes. In the mean time, next time you're looking for some great T's don't go to the gap, order from American Apparel.
